Where do we meet to get on the boat?
If the charter is in Lake Tsala Apopka- Hernando side= I can pick you up at the boat launch at Lake Hernando Park at 3699 E. Orange Drive. I can also pick you up at your home/AirBnB if the conditions allow.
If the charter is in the gulf or another part of the lake a meeting point will be set accordingly.
Do you have set pick up/drop off points?
We pick up from Lake Hernando Park at 3699 E. Orange Dr., Hernando. I can also do pickups from BlueGills Restaurant - across from The Burger Station.
Where can Captain Dan take me in the pontoon boat?
Due to where it is currently docked, I can take your party anywhere north of Turner Camp Rd on Lake Tsala Apopka.
Are children permitted on the charter?
Absolutely. We have USCG approved life vests for all ages. You are also welcome to help your children fly the kite that I keep on board or to fish with the children’s fishing pole that is kept on the boat. Per my captain’s license-every human is considered a passenger.
We have an infant/toddler, do they count as a person?
The USCG requires that Captain Dan counts everybody, no matter how tiny, as a person on a charter.
Can I charter your boat to cruise the gulf or another part of the lake?
Yes, in certain instances. Please call ahead for these rates.
Can you pick me up at my lake front home?
Yes, if the sea wall or dock enables a 22’ pontoon boat proper access and you are on the part of the lake that I dock my boat.
Can I fish from the pontoon boat?
Yes, if you bring your gear, you are welcome to fish. Please keep in mind that we are not a fishing charter.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, I possess a OUPV 6 pk Captain’s License. The boat is fully insured to take up to 6 passengers on charter trips.
Does the boat provide shade?
Yes, the boat has an automated Bimini cover that can be set in the half or full cover setting.
Do you have a restroom on the boat?
There is an emergency camp potty with a pop-up curtain. For non-emergencies I can take you to Hernando Park where there are restrooms.
What if it rains?
I keep a close eye on live weather radar. In Florida the rain showers often come and go quickly. If rain threatens your charter time slot, I will contact you in an attempt to move the charter time up or back or to reschedule your charter day. If your schedule disallows this, you will receive a full refund.
Is food available?
I am happy to obtain food for your group from The Burger Station or Blue Gills. The cost of the food is extra. I always have complimentary bottles of cold water available on the boat. You are also welcome to bring food/a cooler. You may eat on the boat or there are a couple of unique private spots on the lake at which to picnic.
Will we see wildlife?
The wildlife in the waterways of Citrus County is definitely plentiful and thriving. There are times when we may spot an alligator, otter, beaver, turtle, frog and many different varieties of marsh birds. Due to the fact that they are ‘in the wild’ we unfortunately cannot guarantee a spotting.
Is it safe to swim in the lake?
Swimming in a Florida lake is generally safe. Only on a very rare occasion has an alligator attacked a human in a Florida lake. If you would like to go for a swim, I suggest taking a quick dip to cool off. Swimming is at your own risk.
What should I bring with me?
Towels if you plan on taking a dip.
Food if you would like to eat during your charter.
BYO beer, wine and cups if you would like to indulge.
Bring beverages for the children if they prefer something other than cold water.
Your identification in order to verify your identity.
What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept Zelle, Venmo and CashApp. I also accept credit & debit cards through my online booking system.
Debit and Credits Cards are accepted thru my online booking system.
How much is due at the time that I book my charter?
The total charter fee is collected when you book your charter.
What if I need to cancel my charter?
If you cancel your charter appointment 48 hours or more prior to the appointment day/time, a full refund will be issued. If the appointment is canceled less than 48 hours prior to the charter appointment day/time, a partial (50%) refund will be issued. Cancellations must be submitted via email which allows your cancellation to be time stamped.
